2010 January: Councillor Statements
Following the 'Cheadle Unite' Meeting at Cheadle Cricket Club on the 21st of January we have received the following feedback.
Please note that although the following is good news to date, it is still only a step forward in the process.

As Leader of SMDC, I have read all the emails and letters from residents of Cheadle sent to me during this period of consultation. In addition, I attended the meeting last Thursday at the Cheadle Cricket Club, which was very useful to me, in that it gave additional perspective to the objections raised.
I have now ‘gone public’ in saying that I personally, cannot support additional housing in Cheadle, until we (SMDC) have ensured that the necessary infrastructure to support effective housing growth can be paid for and delivered at the right time.
Best regards,
Sybil.
Cllr Sybil E,Ralphs. MBE

Re: Core Strategy Development Plan Document Addendum to Submission Version December 2009
Having regard to the representations made by my constituents to me, and in the light of uncertainties regarding the evolution of regional policy, the Government’s financial crisis, and in the evolution of housing developments in Cheadle as a whole, and to roads and infrastructure, and in respect of further consultation, I am putting in an objection to the proposals.
Yours ever,
Bill Cash MP
Member of Parliament for Stone
22nd Jan 10(radio)
Bill Cash stated his opposition to the Addendum on BBC Radio.
21st Jan 10 (Cheadle Unite meeting)
At the meeting, Jo Lewis the Labour PPC highlighted an invitation from the Housing Minister John Healey to Cheadle Unite, to discuss the values and issues set out by the Cheadle Unite residents action group.
Jo has listened to the concerns put forward from the first meeting back in December and has applied significant time and effort into putting forward our views to the Ministers team.
21st Jan 10 (Cheadle Unite meeting)
Cheadle Unite present a group representation against the Addendum / Core Strategy to Sybil Ralphs.
The representation covers Cheadle East and expands to cover the concerns appropriate to the whole town.
Road, traffic, health, environment agricultural and ecological are amongst concerns highlighted in terms of National and Regional strategy including the promotion of regeneration of brownfield and waste sites around the potteries over development on greenfields around a valuable rural english town.
Please check back for more updates and again thanks to the hundreds of residents that packed Cheadle Cricket Club on the 21st Jan for over 3 hours.
